Beautiful theatre. Drove down from north of Tampa. Blew my mom away she was looking at the designs alone for half a hour😅 the staff are absolutely amazing , very accommodating and kind. Dan , Aguirre and many others made the experience 110% great employees.
Review: Great Talent and Era, Spoiled by an Unnecessary Gender Flip ​ Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3 out of 5 stars) ​ My companion and I recently attended Much Ado About Nothing at The Naples Players. The production got a lot of things right, but a baffling directorial choice ultimately spoiled what should have been a thoroughly enjoyable evening. ​On the positive side, the transition to a 1940s Hollywood soundstage ("Messina Studios") was incredibly well-done and highly enjoyable. The aesthetic, the pacing, and the era's style worked beautifully as a backdrop for the comedy. Furthermore, the local talent on stage was top-tier. Sydney Mixon, cast as Claudio, was a particular standout—she is an excellent actress and sings beautifully, handling both the dialogue and musical elements with immense skill. ​Unfortunately, the entire experience was derailed by Director Marcus Dean Fuller’s decision to gender-flip Claudio into a female actress while keeping the original male name. Changing pronouns to "she" to create a lesbian romance with Hero—while still calling her "Claudio"—completely muddled the plot's logic and left us deeply confused rather than engaged. ​There was absolutely no narrative need to alter Shakespeare’s text or character dynamics to fit a modern concept. It is deeply frustrating to sit through a beautifully staged, wonderfully acted period piece, only to have it compromised by an unnecessary rewrite of the original masterpiece. ​The actors and the 1940s setting deserved a five-star review, but the heavy-handed character alteration dragged the production down. I will definitely be vetting future directorial choices much more closely before buying tickets here again.
I had to give my opinion for Les Miserable as it was heads, tails and beyond the last show we saw. The voices the music and the sets were very professional and authentic this was truly a 5 star performance by all! Congratulations to all who made this a very memorable night for us
