Reviews
I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at HOTWORX Fort Myers was one of the most unprofessional customer service interactions I have ever had. I became a member in 2023 and recently moved out of the area. I went into the studio simply to cancel my membership. Employee Leah Kaunath informed me I could either pay a $100 cancellation fee or continue paying for two additional months. Although I disagreed with the policy, I immediately agreed to pay the $100 fee. The issue wasn’t the fee. It was how I was treated. While my mother and I were privately discussing how surprising it was to pay another $100 just to cancel a membership, Leah interrupted and said, “Well, you signed the contract.” I explained that I understood I had signed it but that cancellation policies like this are not always explained transparently when someone joins. She then asked, “Would you like to read the contract?” in a condescending tone. I asked for receipts of my past payments. She first claimed she couldn’t provide them because they didn’t have a printer. After I questioned that, she said she could email them but complained, “Well that’s going to take me a long time.” While I was paying the cancellation fee, I also requested a receipt for that payment. She waited until after my card processed to tell me, “Sorry, now that you’ve paid there’s no way I can give you a receipt.” Seconds later, the payment terminal displayed options to email or text a receipt. When I pointed that out, she responded, “Oh yeah, I guess you can do it like that.” Later, my mother and I were privately discussing having an attorney friend review the contract because the cancellation policy seemed unusually difficult. Again, Leah inserted herself into our conversation and said, “I wouldn’t bother doing that. There aren’t any loopholes in our contract and you’ve signed it anyways.” I politely asked her to stay out of our conversation because we were not speaking to her. She then looked at us and said, “You people are ridiculous.” After paying this franchise thousands of dollars, I couldn’t believe an employee thought that was an appropriate way to speak to a customer. Another issue was my membership pause. In April 2024, I originally went in to cancel but was encouraged to pause my membership instead. No one explained that the pause would automatically expire after three months and billing would resume. Since I had moved away, I unknowingly paid over $1,200 in membership dues without using the gym a single time. I accept responsibility for not catching the charges sooner. However, when I explained no one had told me the pause would automatically expire, Leah shrugged, laughed out loud, and said, “You’re lucky we even let you have it paused for four months because we usually only allow three.” I picked up owner Vincent Mitchell’s business card because I felt I couldn’t complete a simple cancellation without unnecessary conflict. I dialed the number, but it rang the studio phone. Leah picked it up, held it toward me while laughing, and asked, “Were you trying to call Vincent?” I told her I’d contact him another way and leave a review. She laughed, smiled, and replied, “Go right ahead. I’m sure he’d love to hear!” I canceled two other gym memberships that same day. Both businesses thanked me for being a customer and handled the process professionally. HOTWORX Fort Myers did the exact opposite. I hope owner Vincent Mitchell and HOTWORX corporate read this review. One employee permanently changed my perception of the entire HOTWORX brand. Before today, I would have considered joining another HOTWORX closer to my new home. After this experience, I have absolutely no interest in doing business with any HOTWORX location. I honored my contract. HOTWORX Fort Myers failed to show the professionalism every customer deserves. I hope corporate evaluates how this franchise represents its brand because, after this experience, I will never do business with another HOTWORX location.
A believer after day 1! I wasn’t big on the website because it seems a little intimidating for someone who is wanting to start working out & get healthier, but I gave it a try anyway. The sauna and workout sold itself; the staff was a BONUS! I went in dreading to workout because it’s been literally years, & I also went in with hip & low back muscle pain. After the iso workout, kid you not, my pain was gone and I was on an endorphin high! The staff is top notch. The GM was the most genuine person & extremely welcoming & helpful. I’m so glad I’ve found a gym that I feel motivated to join and feel secure in!
I have been going here for quite a bit of time. They change the workouts that you follow in the saunas so you get challenged after a certain amount of weeks. It is truly amazing what a great gym this is, private and they always greet you at the door and make you feel welcomed! I am always talking to the staff and the manager of the place! They are all always so friendly and helpful! I have been to a different gym and never felt so comfortable like I do at this one! Even the people who come here are always so polite! Never had a bad experience here! The workouts will have you dropping in sweat!
Love this place! Nationwide so you can use it if you travel a lot. Different types of work outs in saunas. You prebook so you know if other people are in the sauna too. You track progress and get points for merch. 24/7 too
I’ve been a member at HOTWORX for 3 years now, and I still love it just as much as I did when I first joined. As a nurse with a crazy schedule, I love how flexible and convenient it is. I can squeeze in a session or nap before or after a shift, and it never feels like a chore. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the place is clean, and booking through the app is super easy. Whether I’m in the mood for hot stretch, buns, or a quick HIIT session, there’s something for every vibe. It’s been such a great addition to my routine—definitely recommend if you’re looking for something different that actually works!
